In this Torah portion, Pharaoh's army chases after the 3 million Jews who left Egypt. The Jews arrive at the Red Sea and appear to be cornered, when suddenly the sea splits, enabling them to walk through on dry land. The Egyptians also enter the sea, but it closes back and drowns them. Moses leads the Jews in a song of praise. The Jews continue traveling in the desert; water is brought forth from a rock and manna-bread drops from the sky.Aharon was the first High Priest, and Moses' brother.Aharon was known for "loving peace and pursuing peace." Aharon means "mountain" or "shining.
